書は言を尽さず 言は心を尽さず 事事 見参の時を期せん

通解(意訳)
(色々と手紙に書いたけれども、)書面の文章では、言葉で話すように表現し尽くす事ができず、言葉だけでは心を表現し尽くす事ができない。
さまざまな事柄は、直接お目にかかった時を期待して、顔を合わせて心を交わす対話をしたい。

A letter cannot convey all that one would like to say, and words cannot fully express what is in the heart.
