一念無明の迷心は磨かざる鏡なり 是を磨かば必ず法性真如の明鏡と成るべし、
深く信心を発して日夜朝暮に又懈らず磨くべし
何様にしてか磨くべき 只南無妙法蓮華経と唱へたてまつるを是を磨くとは云うなり
いっしんむみょうの めいしんは みがかざる かがみなり これを みがかば かならず ほっしょうしんにょの みょうきょうと なるべし、
ふかく しんじんを おこして にちやちょうぼに また おこたらず みがくべし いかようにしてか みがくべき ただ なんみょうほうれんげきょうと となえたてまつるを これを みがくとは いうなり

通解（意訳）
一念無明の迷信とは、今の悩みや苦しみ等によって迷っている心の状態であり、まだ磨いていない鏡のようなものである。この鏡を磨けば、必ず仏性という本来生命に備わっている仏の生命（法性真如：仏界）を開き、明るく輝く鏡となるのである。
深く信心を奮い起こして、日夜、朝夕に、また怠らずに磨いていきなさい。
では、どのように磨けばよいのか。ただ南無妙法蓮華経と唱えること、これを（生命という鏡を）磨くというのである。

A mind now clouded by the illusions of the innate darkness of life is like a tarnished mirror, but when polished, it is sure to become like a clear mirror, reflecting the essential nature of phenomena and the true aspect of reality.
Arouse deep faith, and diligently polish your mirror day and night.
How should you polish it? Only by chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.

湿れる木より火を出し乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり - praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
