かつへて食をねがひ・渇して水をしたうがごとく・
恋いて人を見たきがごとく・病にくすりをたのむがごとく、
みめかたちよき人・べに しろいものを つくるがごとく・法華経には信心をいたさせ給へ、さなくしては後悔あるべし
かつえて しょく を ねがい・かっして みず を したう が ごとく・
こいて ひと を みたき が ごとく・やまい に くすり を たのむ が ごとく、
みめ かたち よき ひと・べに しろいもの を つくる が ごとく・ほけきょう には しんじん を いたさせたまえ、さなくして は こうかい あるべし

通解（意訳）
飢えて食べ物を願い、喉が乾いて水を慕うように、
恋をしてその人を見たくなるように、病気にかかったら薬に頼るように、
見目形よい人が口紅やおしろいをするのと同じように、法華経においては生命が求めるようにただ純粋に、自然に信心に励んでいきなさい。
そうでなく、自分の心に背いて、無理やり信心をしたとしても無意味であり、後悔するであろう。

As you crave food when hungry, seek water when thirsty, long to see a lover,
beg for medicine when ill, or as a beautiful woman desires powder and rouge,
so should you put your faith in the Lotus Sutra.
If you do not, you will regret it later.

Interpretation (liberal translation)
In the Lotus Sutra, just as you wish from life, you should keep on working in pure faith.
Otherwise, it would be meaningless even if you forced your faith against your heart.

and, you would regret it later.
