此法門を日蓮申す 故に 忠言耳に逆う道理なるが故に流罪せられ 命にも及びしなり、然どもいまだこりず候
法華経は種の如く 仏はうへての如く 衆生は田の如くなり

法華経の法門を日蓮が申すゆえに、忠告は耳障りに聞こえるのが人間の道理でもあるから、流罪にされたり、命にも及んだのである。しかしながら、私はいまだに懲りていない。
法華経は種のようであり、仏は植え手のようであり、衆生は田のようである。

I have expounded this teaching [ of The Lotus Sutra ], I have been exiled and almost killed. As the saying goes, “Good advice grates on the ear.” But still I am not discouraged.
The Lotus Sutra is like the seed, the Buddha like the sower, and the people like the field.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
